Pittsburgh health insurance company Highmark fired their chief executive after an alleged scandal involving an extramarital affair with a 28-year-old worker. “Kenneth Melani, 58, was arraigned Thursday on charges that he assaulted the husband of his alleged mistress, Melissa Myler,” according to WPXI television coverage at the time.
After first placing Melani on administrative leave, the board dropped him once charges were filed. State insurance filings say Melani was paid $4.35 million last year.
The station reports then-CEO Melani had a fight with Myler’s husband once the affair was discovered. “A neighbor who wanted to remain anonymous said the brawl took place in front of Myler’s Canterbury Court home,” according to WPXI.
They quoted the neighbor as saying, “I just saw the two men running across the street chasing each other, and when they got toward the house, one pushed the other into the door,’ the neighbor said. ‘I heard one of them say, ‘She pursued me, I didn’t pursue her.’ That’s the only thing I heard distinctly.” The neighbor also said Melissa Myler tried to intervene as her husband and Melani allegedly exchanged punches, according to the television report.
